LeBron James and Team USA will battle Nikola Jokic and Serbia in the Olympics semifinals today – Thursday, Aug. 8 – at Bercy Arena in Paris. Today’s game will broadcast live on USA Network and Universo with tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m. Eastern. (9 p.m. Central European Summer Time).

They shut down three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, limiting the superstar to just eight points on 4-of-10 shooting in the final two quarters. The United States outscored Serbia by 26 points during the nine minutes Jokic was on the bench.
Kevin Durant came off the pine to provide a dynamic 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting while the starting five of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Drew Holiday, Devin Booker and Joel Embiid supplied a strong overall performance to ride the wave. Team USA’s reserves outscored Serbia’s bench 47-23.

Serbia is coming off a stunning 24-point comeback to oust Australia 95-90 in overtime of the quarterfinals. Jokic finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. Filip Petrusev came away with a clutch steal and finished with nine points and five rebounds.
Josh Giddey and Patty Mills’ Olympics journey ended with a combined 51-point performance. The Aussies orchestrated a 20-0 run during the first half, but watched it dissolve in an improbable ending from the Joker’s bunch.
Obviously, possessing talent such as Jokic gives Serbia a puncher’s chance to stun the world. He is among the top 10 in scoring in Paris, averaging 19.3 points per game, along with 11.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists. But Bogdan Bogdanovic has also proved to be a potent second jab. He resides in the top 10 with 18.5 points per game.
Serbia’s offense is a big reason why it’s fighting for a spot in the gold medal game. They average 95.5 points per game, just second to the United States (109.8). They are also second to the Americans in field goal percentage, connecting on 50.9% of their buckets.
Team USA is averaging 44% from beyond the arc. Serbia has been streaky from deep. Facing that kind of firepower, they’ll need to whether multiple storms to keep within striking distance.
In their previous encounter, the United States took away Jokic and dared the rest of the Serbs to beat them. That gamble worked well. Look for more impactful defense from the three-head monster of Davis, Embiid and Bam Adebayo. Even if Jokic is limited, a breakout from Bogdanovic could make things a bit more interesting at Bercy.
The winner of this game will play the winner of France vs. Germany in the gold medal game on Aug. 10 at 3:30 p.m. on NBC and Peaco*ck.
