That’s officially the end of the 2023-2024 sliding season! This season was my first racing as a pilot in the 2man bobsleigh event & what a season it was. Four countries, five tracks, eight races and one-hundred & three runs later this is where we stand. Season Rankings: •North America Cup (2man): 11th•Europe Cup (2man): 46th•Junior World Championships (2man): 17th•Overall IBSF Ranking (2man): 43rd A major highlight from this year was that I qualified Israel for its first ever Junior World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland. There I was fortunate to make not only mine but my countries debut at this IBSF race.Back on ice in 3.5 months! Stay tuned!

"Punching above our weight" - Pardon the pun following Kelly Harrington's boxing Gold medal, but that should be #Ireland's official motto, because it's true. What an achievement for a small country of just 5m people to not only win 4 gold medals so far at the Olympics, but also to have the highest productivity, the highest standards of education, of food production, and the nicest people in the world.I am inspired by this country's (and my team's) human resources and resourcefulness, and this ability to do it with a smile. In many ways, the Herdwatch journey would not have been the same anywhere else, or maybe even possible, because our business motto could also be "Punching above our weight" - We have always tried to do the right thing with limited resources, for farmers and ranchers, for our amazing team, for our communities, and we have built a fast-growing international business, a beacon of Irish #Agtech supported by fantastic Irish structures such as FRS Co-Op, Local Enterprise Offices in #Tipperary, AgTech Ireland, Renatus and of course Enterprise Ireland who have stood by us for many years in our international journey. Finally, none of this would have happened without Ireland's membership of the European Union - for all its failings (and it has many), the EU has brought people closer and given me and millions of others opportunities that did not exist just 30 or 40 years ago. (For those who don't know, I came to Ireland on an EU-funded ERASMUS student programme for a year, and never went back...and wasn't thrown out!)If it wasn't clear already, I am extremely grateful to have been "adopted" by the people of Ireland and #Roscrea. I will always be a proud French man, and love both nations (I have dual nationality), but Ireland has given me so much, including my wonderful wife Antoinette and daughter Amélie, and I will continue to do my best to give back.Maith thú agus go raibh maith agat Éire 🙏👏💚🇮🇪PS: Ireland is officially 12th on the Olympics medals table (which is amazing) but actually 3rd on the "Gold medals per capita" table!! I think that table should be used officially alongside the other one - China are pretty much last on that one and the USA are 29th! "Olympics Glory in Proportion" as the website says 👇

Jamaican sprint legend to retire after Paris 2024 OlympicsShelly-Ann Fraser-PryceAt 37, Shelly-Ann, with a record haul that speaks for itself and regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time, to retire after the Paris Olympics.Shelly-Ann Olympics and World Titles medal haul- Olympics·Three gold: 100m (2008, 2012), 4x100m relay (2020)·Four silvers: 100m (2020), 200m (2012), 4x100m relay (2012, 2016)·One bronze: 100m (2016)- World Championships·10 gold: 100m (2009, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2022), 200m (2013), 4x100m relay (2009, 2013, 2015, 2019)·Five silvers: 200m (2022), 4x100m relay (2007, 2011, 2022, 2023)·One bronze: 100m (2023)Shelley-Anne is the consummate competitor, always has an engaging demeanour even under pressure, which makes the following statements no surprise:“You can have an impact, but it’s important to show people that you don’t have to be selfish at the same time.”"It's not enough that we step on a track, and we win medals. You have to think about the next generation that's coming after you and give them the opportunity to also dream - and dream big."What has sport to do with business? Nothing and everything! For all business leaders, set the example, mentor and support those behind you, because none of us can last forever, let alone obtain the track record of a Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. #Collaboration #Mentorship #Communication #Projectmanagement #Innovation #Jamaica

Men’s Water Polo World Championships in Doha DAY 1 saw some interesting results. The 2024 competition promises to be a cracker. Make sure you watch as many games as you can today. For us Saffas, get ready to dive into the thrilling world of South Africa versus Australia Water Polo. The only showdown between these powerhouses where South Africa came out on top dates all the way back to the 1960 Olympic Games. Let's rewind the clock and unearth some hidden gems from that legendary clash. Ever heard of Wally Voges? Wally was a rock-solid pillar of South African Water Polo for many years, quietly shaping the game behind the scenes. And how about Leon Nahon? You might not recognize the name, but rumour has it, he's the old man of none other than Mike Nahon, keeping the family legacy alive and kicking! Back in '60, these rising stars helped South Africa secure a jaw-dropping 3-2 victory over Australia. But since then, the Aussies have had the upper hand in our encounters. Can the 2024 squad flip the script? Tune in today at 11:30 AM, South African time to witness the drama unfold! Check out some past results while you're at it: 2022 World Champs : Australia 19 - South Africa 42019 World League : Australia 19 - South Africa 62015 World Champs : Australia 17 - South Africa 12010 World League : Australia 19 - South Africa 42009 World League : Australia 13 - South Africa 4

China's Li cruises into last 16 at BWF World Championships - https://lnkd.in/gCH9kZ7B, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Sixth seed Li Shifeng of China swept past Malaysia's world No. 34 Kantaphon Wangcharoen 21-10, 21-12 to reach the men's singles last 16 for the first time at the BWF World Championships on Tuesday. The 23-year-old All-England Open champion needed only 44 minutes to win the pair's second head-to-head meeting, revenging his full-game defeat at the Japan Open last year. "Last time against him I played very aggressively, but lacked changes (in tactics) on the court. You cannot win the match if you only attack and attack. This time, I've learned lessons from that defeat and tried to play with more patience," Li said after the victory. The 2018 Youth Olympic Games champion has been enjoying a skyrocketing year, which saw him win two BWF Tour titles and finish runner-up twice. Next up for Li is Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei, who reached the last 16 at the worlds for the second year in a row after overcoming China's Lu Guangzu 21-16, 18-21, 21-19. The 28-year-old Wang knocked out Lu in the same stage at last year's tournament in Tokyo, before losing to Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in the battle for a quarterfinal berth. Source

Team Europe wins the Ryder Cup 2023 🏆🥇🏌🏽♂️Luke Donald and his team arrived and conquered the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy, defeating team USA 16,5 - 11,5 in a historic Ryder Cup weekend clash 🙌If you don’t follow golf, this is the biggest golfing event aside from the Majors which takes place every 2 years. It’s a duel between Europe & USA which dates all the way back to 1927.Since it’s origin, team USA has won 27 times vs Europe’s 14. Well done team Europe for taking back the cup 🏆 in 2023 🙌What I love about this tournament is not only the incredible golf but the comoradrie of the teams, the die hard crowds and their cheers and the beautiful venues where the tournament is held!Golf is very much like financial planning. In order to play well, you need to prepare and have a plan. I call this the 5 P’s:- Proper- Prior - Planning ………avoids……..- Poor - PerformancePlanning for your financial future will ensure you can play the game of life and have the best possible outcome no matter what may happen. UPDATE Olympics: We lost to China in the finals of our last tournament…But our Milan 2026 Olympic goal isn’t dead. China normally plays in Division A of the Pan Continental Curling Championships (PCCC) but was relegated to B because, due to COVID, they couldn’t participate last year. So, we faced a team that is made up of professional curlers – while we all have jobs besides curling. We knew it would be tough. In the preliminary round, China completely outplayed us, and we didn't stand a chance. As we got to the finals, we faced China again. They were significantly stronger. But even so, we were head-to-head with them throughout the entire game. Then, on the 10th end, our third-to-last stone missed the target and we lost the game. That sealed our fate and we were quite disappointed – until we had our first beer. But, to be honest, we didn’t expect to even do that well. The fact we held our own was actually pretty exciting. Our goal for next year is to move up to A to play in the Olympic qualifications tournament.China advanced back to PCCC-A… meaning we won’t have to face them again next year. So, our chances to transition from PCCC-B to A are still intact – and are looking much better now. What I realized from the Pan Continental Curling Championships: 1. If we work closely together as a team, we stand a chance even against strong competitors.2. My teammates are much better than me. Put differently: My sweeping is quite poor and my sliding needs an upgrade. So I’m putting in more training on my own to catch up.3. As a team, we have to improve our mental strength so we can play our best when it gets tough. The good news is: It’s completely possible.Right now, I’d say we have a 20% chance of making it to the 2026 Olympics. If you’d like to stay up-to-date, subscribe to my newsletter 👉 https://lnkd.in/dy5wbxT#olympics #curling #optimization #entrepreneur #leadership
